📦 How to Clear or Manage Mailbox Storage Space in cPanel
If your email account is reaching its storage limit or you’re receiving “mailbox full” warnings, you can free up space directly through cPanel.
This guide shows how to check usage, delete old emails safely, and prevent the issue from recurring.
🔐 Step 1: Log In to Your Client Area
-
Go to https://clients.tkinternetmarketing.com/clientarea.php.
-
Log in using your email address and password.
-
Select Services → My Services → View Details for your hosting plan.
-
Click Login to cPanel to access your hosting dashboard.
📧 Step 2: Check Email Disk Usage
-
In cPanel, scroll to the Email section.
-
Click Email Disk Usage.
-
Select the email account you want to review from the dropdown menu.
-
You’ll see a summary of how much space each folder (Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc.) is using.
💡 The Inbox and Sent folders are usually the largest contributors to storage use.
🧹 Step 3: Remove Unnecessary Messages
-
In the Email Disk Usage screen, find the folder you want to clean up.
-
Click Manage next to that folder.
-
Choose an option from the “Messages to delete” menu, such as:
-
1 year old or more
-
30 MB or larger
-
All messages (use with caution)
-
-
Click Delete Permanently.
-
Repeat for other folders as needed.
🧠 Deleting large attachments (old invoices, photos, PDFs) can quickly free up space.
🧭 Step 4: Clean Mailbox via Webmail (Alternative)
You can also delete emails through Webmail:
-
Go to
https://yourdomain.com/webmail. -
Log in with your full email address and password.
-
Open your Inbox or Sent folder.
-
Use sorting options to find the largest or oldest messages.
-
Select and delete them, then empty the Trash folder.
💡 Roundcube users can enable “Show message size” under Settings → Preferences → Mailbox View for easier sorting.
⚙️ Step 5: Adjust Mailbox Quotas
To increase or reduce the mailbox storage limit:
-
In cPanel, go to Email Accounts.
-
Locate the account you want to adjust and click Manage.
-
Under Storage, choose one of the following:
-
Unlimited (recommended only for admin or main accounts)
-
Custom Quota (enter a specific limit, e.g., 1024 MB)
-
-
Click Update Email Settings to save changes.
💡 Larger mailboxes may slow down backups and performance — aim to stay under 2–4 GB per account if possible.
🔁 Step 6: Prevent Future Mailbox Overload
-
Empty Trash and Spam folders regularly.
-
Use an email client (like Outlook or Apple Mail) configured as IMAP, but archive older emails locally.
-
Avoid storing large attachments in your Inbox.
-
Set up auto-deletion rules in Email Filters for old newsletters or large files.
